What is the STEAM Summer Program? S.T.E.A.M. is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. You may have heard of STEM - we've included art, too because design and creativity is part of everything we do. The goal of STEM/STEAM is to develop critical thinking and design skills to prepare learners for the 21st century.
Our goal is to keep learners engaged and excited about learning through the summer months. Our program is designed to allow students of all abilities opportunities to succeed. It is so interactive that participants don’t realize they’re “working” and since it doesn’t feel like school, they don’t realize how much they are learning!
What do participants do at the STEAM Summer Program? All kinds of awesome things! Each week is centered around an exciting theme. Prior themes include “Adventure Around the World”, “Sports Science”, and "Amusement Parks". Through these themes, students are challenged to solve problems while rotating rotating through activity stations run by certified educators and engineers. This includes engineering design challenges, art activities, exploring science, experimenting, and more hands-on fun.
Do participants eat lunch there? Yes! At our programs for 8-13 year-olds, we include a half hour lunch break to keep up our energy. Please pack a lunch for your child (no peanuts, please). We provide snacks and drinks.
Can I request my child be grouped with his/her friends? Absolutely! If your child is registering for a session with friends, you may request them to be together and we will do our best to have them grouped together. Please email us your request at firstname.lastname@example.org or include it in the "Note to Seller" when you check out. Proper notice is appreciated.
Do you take volunteers? We offer a limited number of Counselor-in-Training positions for each session. This volunteer opportunity is for teens ages 14-17 who want to further develop their leadership skills. CIT's are selected based on submission of an application and letter of recommendation. The application can be found on the Program Details page.
Be sure to let us know if your child has food allergies or any special needs, so we can accommodate you however possible!
